Welcome to the artist portfolio site for Bud Fujikawa!

Bud Fujikawa is a contemporary art painter and sculptor based in Toronto, Canada. Much of the subject matter he explores in his work, quite simply, speaks for itself. He pursues an exhaustive and lengthy approach in the production of his artwork, usually spending several years concentrating on one subject. The end result is typically a large body of work presented in a clever, fully conceptualized way to the viewer.

Some of Bud's more recent works include paintings of beavers, woodpeckers and hydro electric dams. He has also been engaged in carving Japanese-style wooden phalloi. His work is part of some notable collections including the estate of Lynn Donoghue, Colette Whiten, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre, and Accenture Corporation; it is also enjoyed in many more private households and cottages across Canada and the United States.

Bud was born in 1971 in Kelowna, British Columbia to Japanese immigrant parents. He moved with his family to Toronto at the age of nine and continues to live there with his wife Simone Abel and young son Noah Gan Tetsurai. He attended York University in Toronto from 1990 to 1995 where he completed an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Bud has been drawing and painting since childhood, and since university, has been showing his work regularly in galleries and other venues.
